This year I am doing a 12 Months of Grateful Theme – Posts will be on the last day of the month, one thing I am grateful for. We tend to hear so much negative in the news on any given day, it can be hard to focus on the good.
Coming out of a funk –
This month I’ve been kind of down. (Yes, I know! But I promise, it gets better!) I moved to my new town March of last year. Haven’t met many people yet in my new hometown. I met a parent of one of my daughter’s friends, but never made plans to hang out. Mainly because I didn’t want to go out. I will get into those funks and sometimes it will last months.
These past two weeks, I hung out with friends at least one night each of those weeks. Back story, my new hometown is about 50 minutes from my job. It’s about 35 – 40 minutes from any restaurants that I normally hang out with my friends at. So, with me leaving work at 4, I don’t want to go home and then go back out. Three hours in the car? So, I make my friends meet me for an early dinner. Although, I think I’m going to have them start coming up once in awhile to hang with me! I may live in a small town, but it’s cute and has a nice wine cellar and a couple good restaurants!
With me going out the past couple of weeks, it seems to have snapped me out of my funk! This past weekend, with no mumbles and grumbles to myself, I went out and got my errands done. I got off the couch and got my apartment straightened up and it didn’t feel like it was going to kill me lol. Yes, I know it was only errands and straightening up, but my main group of friends were on vacation in Vegas. Yeah, I need to earn more money lol.

CoCoCay Bahamas. My last long vacation 🙂
What am I Grateful for?
So, I am grateful for great friends who are there to come and hang out when the mood strikes. And to new friends I hope to start making here so I don’t feel isolated when my daughter is with her father. I’ve signed up for a local meet-up group and hope to start getting out and meeting people who are interested in the same things as I am. This will be a two for one grateful post. I’m grateful for technology that is in place to help people who are in the same boat as I am and want to get out and meet new people :).
What happened this past month that you are grateful for?
I am grateful that I was able to save my little baby leopard gecko from dying. My sons are helping me nurse her back to health too so I am grateful for their help. I am glad you are getting out of the funk. Going out can really help that for sure. Thanks for sharing what you are grateful for in January.
I am grateful for my family, especially my kids. I know that I don’t say it enough, but they truly make my life complete.
My four grandsons are in the middle of basketball season and I go watch them play 3-4 nights per week. We’re making the best memories and they will always know that their grandparents were there for them, right alongside their parents and the other set of grandparents. I’m grateful that they have so many people that care about them. Glad you were able to go out and get some things done plus enjoying dinner with your friends. Hope you make some new friends in the meet-up group.
I love this post! I do a “12 months of happiness” series on my blog. It’s so important to focus on the positive/happy moments in life. This month I am grateful for traveling and my family.
I hear ya, I moved to my new state last May just after getting married. It hasn’t been easy meeting new people and making new friends and that is something I’m not sure how to navigate at this point.

It’s really good to be grateful and this is a nice monthly post. It’s nice that you are getting out of your funk and starting to meet people and even had a hood vacation.
I am grateful that I almost have all of the Christmas stuff down! I know, right! I’ve been in a funk, and so have the kids apparently because none of us have wanted to take it down lol. All that is left is the undecorated tree to put away…whew!

I think it is always important to figure out something that you are grateful for. Sometimes there are tough times and it always is easier to get through them when you can focus on something that you are grateful for.
I love, love, LOVE this! I think it’s important for all of us to remember the good things we have in our lives. There are people out there who have it far worse.
Really nice to have great friends who are willing to meet you early for dinner. Sometimes we just need to go out and get away. Have some good times and laughs.
It’s great that you’re getting out and seeing friends. That always helps me when I am feeling down, too.
Posting about what you are grateful for is a great way to reflect! I am also very appreciative for my friends, I couldn’t imagine life without them.
I think it is a good idea to think about all the things your are grateful for every day. I like to end each night thinking about all my blessings.
I am grateful that so far my pregnancy is going ok without too many complications and our baby looks healthy. If my placenta can just do what it’s supposed to, then we’ll all be ok.
Keeping you in my thoughts!
I keep a little notebook that I write 5 things that I’m grateful for every day. I do it first thing in the morning so I can get a great start on the day.

That’s a great idea! And it’s a nice reference to go back to if there is one day that is exceptionally bad. Thanks for sharing that!
Love this idea, I would like to copy your idea. It is important that we always acknowledge what we wre grateful for and how blessed we are.
Go for it! I look forward to reading yours!
I am grateful for my family… for our health, safety. I really love this idea.
I love this idea. I’m grateful that for waking up every morning and for the bacon that I had this morning!
