In a few years, I am planning to start traveling the country on my own. So, I’ve been doing a lot of research. One of my searches took me to, what am I going to “NEED” when I’m traveling alone. Not necessarily what I “WANT” when I’m traveling. Here is the list I came up with that every solo woman traveler needs:

Solo Woman Traveler Needs

Leather Journal Notebook – As a solo traveler, you may keep in contact with family and friends back home. However, there’s going to be a time you want to get your thoughts down on paper. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or monthly.

Solo Woman Traveler

Safety Whistle – A solo traveler can never go wrong with safety. Having a Safety Whistle on hand will scare any potential danger to you from another individual.

Airbnb $100 Gift Card – Sometimes it’s nice to stay somewhere that seems more personal. Not always at a hotel. Or, if they’re backpacking across a country, this is the perfect thing to have on hand for that solo woman traveler.

Water Resistant Travel Backpack – For those who are into hiking, this travel backpack is perfect. It’s lightweight and water resistant. If you’re backpacking cross country. This is still the perfect bag for you. It will keep your things dry and the only weight is what you pack in it.

International Travel Charger – When traveling overseas, it’s good to have a travel adapter on hand for any foreign outlets you may come across. I think this would be a great tool to have on hand for charging your phones, tablets, and laptops.

Adult Coloring Book – For those times that downtime is needed after being on the go all the time. An adult coloring book is one of the best ways to relieve stress.

Headlamp – I had never heard this one. But apparently, headlamps are good to have on hand. Someone who was traveling and touring in a desert location suggested having one for ease of movement instead of using your phone. This way you can free up your hands. Another person said they lost power where they were staying and the headlamp was very useful.

These are just very few things that every solo woman traveler should have on hand. What items would you recommend to the solo woman traveler?

A portable charger is super important. Especially on a vacation when you are going to be using your phone a lot more than usual most likely.

I just bought a great journal to take on our trip. The international plugs my son bought for me. Just heard about the gift cards for airbnb which I think is awesome. Have a great bag to carry everything in and leave my hands free. Looking good so far.

These are super things to travel solo with. I’d need my Kindle so I can read in bed! I like the safety whistle idea because you just never know anymore.

These are all awesome travel items for anyone! I carry adult coloring books with me whenever I go anywhere that I may have time to kill. And a safety whistle is good for any woman to keep with her.

This is a great list for the single female traveler. We are staying at an AirBnB for the first time later this year.

I would never have thought to bring a headlamp. I keep an international travel charger in my bag. I’ve never needed it but am prepared if I ever do.

Definitely great ideas here. I’d had a huggable travel pillow too, but that might be too bulky. And also light fold up rain poncho. I really like that diary!

If I were to travel solo (even if I know that would not happen), I’d get the whistle, the headlamp and the international travel charger. I think these three would be a lifesaver for me.

My husband and I have been staying at AirBNB’s when we travel. They’re not always super nice, but its nice not to stay at a hotel. We had a lot of fun staying close to downtown Nashville when we were there.
