  1. Carry your layers

This one’s further divided into two categories: a base layer and an upper layer. As the name suggests, the base layer will be your first clothing, closest to your skin. In a regular camping experience, layering your clothing is a great idea.

If you have chosen a cold destination, this tip will be particularly handy. However, even if the climatic conditions of the region are not that cold, there are tons of benefits of layering up.

In addition to keeping you dry and well-protected, layering ensures you have multiple clothing that you do not have to pack separately. You can, of course, remove as many layers depending on your comfort level once you reach your destination.

For a colder place, it is best to choose a warm base layer, so that it retains more heat to keep you warm. If you are an easy target for cold, choose heavier fabrics. On the other hand, it is also important to consider the types of activities you will be doing.

In case you are planning for hiking, it can instantly rise up the heat in your body and can become harmful if you keep yourself under thick layers of clothing. You should carry a separate swimwear if you are planning to take a dip in a river or waterfall. Wear base layers that are light and perfect in fitting.

For the upper or outer layer, choose a sturdy fabric that keeps you protected against wind, rain, and snow. A leather jacket is indeed a great idea when it comes to the outer layer. In addition to keeping you warm and protected, it is a style statement that you cannot ignore.

You don’t have to pick a boring jacket when you have such a wide array of options. Ever thought about a purple leather jacket? Try out something new and stand out with your style without compromising on your comfort.

  1. Don’t forget your feet

You will be surprised at how this small piece of clothing and other similar accessories will come in handy once you set out on a camping trip. Thus, it is essential to pay attention to the little items like socks.

Preferably, wool is an excellent choice that’s both functional and comfortable for a camping trip. Your regular dress socks won’t be enough. Just make sure your socks are moisture-wicking, so it doesn’t bother you in varying degrees.

Socks suitable for cold temperatures and rigorous hikes are mountaineering socks. These are cushioned and ultra-thick to provide you both comfort and warmth.

There is a large variety when it comes to suitable footwear for your camping. The three most popular types are day-hiking boots, hiking shoes, and backpacking boots.

The shoes you pick should be according to your requirement. For instance, you are planning for trekking or hiking, footwear that perfectly supports your feet is important. Hiking shoes come with flexible midsoles and firm ground grip. Day hiking boots are more suitable for longer hikes. And backpacking shoes are best if you are setting out for an extended backpacking trip as they are the sturdiest of all.

  1. Cover for hands

Mittens or gloves can be extremely helpful if your campsite is cold. For extreme chilly temperatures, glove liners would be extra useful. Try any variety as you like but make sure it provides you enough warmth.

Great guide on what accessories to take. I often see people prepare for daylight camping and often forget that usually it gets pretty chilly at night.

  2. Luna | HikerTrack

Ya, these items are essential for a camping trip but for me, it’s better to get a good tent so that you dont have to worry about getting frostbite in winter. Carrying layers makes your bag so heavy and I don’t like it.
