Weight Loss Update – Month 3

I haven’t updated in quite awhile!  As I’ve written about before, I reached my highest weight. My feelings were:

  • Not happy with myself
  • Didn’t like the way I looked
  • I’d hide myself behind people in pictures
  • My health was suffering
  • I was becoming depressed

I started taking Phentermine 15mg on October 23rd. My most recent weigh in on New Years Day I was down 20.2 lbs!  I was thrilled!  I made it down to my second loss of 10 lbs. On the scale, I went down into my next set of 10’s. In several more pounds, I’ll be down to where I was when I gave birth to my daughter.  After that, I still have 40 lbs to go. That will get me to just under the weight I was at when I got pregnant. I will have lost 60 lbs at that point.  That is my goal amount to lose. But, what I’d actually like to do is lose another 20 – 25 lbs beyond that.  Putting me at 80 – 85 lbs lost. I won’t be where I was in high school or college. I don’t think I’ll ever see that number again!  I was 115 lbs! But, it will put me where I was when I was on Weight Watchers and lost 40 lbs. I’m hoping to keep my metabolism going and maintain the weight.

Weight Loss Journey ~ Week Two

As promised, here is my two week update!

As you all know, two weeks ago I started my weight loss journey with a little help to kick start my metabolism with a prescription form of Phentermine. The Dr told me that the average weight loss in a year with doing nothing else by taking the pill was 24 lbs.  I figured, I’m fine with that. Even with that loss, I’ll still be down to a weight I hadn’t seen in about three plus years.

Weight Loss Journey ~ The Beginning

Yesterday I took my first Phentermine pill to start my weight loss journey.  This will be a pill that I take over the course of a year.  Studies show that the average weight loss while on Phentermine is 24 lbs.  So, depending on what you do during this time you can lose more or less.  As I am at my highest weight right now, even losing 24 lbs, I would be ecstatic.  Although, I am looking to lose a minimum of 60 lbs. I’ll still be overweight, but, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I know people say, “love the skin you have”. And I do!  But, I also have health issues with high cholesterol. My thyroid medication is higher than it should be and is currently suppressing my thyroid. I don’t want to lower the dose though, because I’m afraid I’ll gain even more weight. So, I do hope that once I’ve dropped some weight and remain on my healthy habits, I’ll be able to lower that dose. Fingers crossed.

Beginning a Healthier Lifestyle with a Little Assistance

Last week I had my annual physical with my Dr.  The main discussion we had was my hypothyroidism. It seems that my pill is a little higher dose than I should have and it’s currently suppressed.  We talked and decided to keep the same dosage. Mainly because I’m afraid that I will gain more weight than I have already.  As it is, I’m at the highest I’ve ever been. My cholesterol is high as well. My cholesterol can be weight managed. The problem? I’m not able to manage my weight! This is a very helpless feeling and I’ve made it clear to my Dr that I am not happy with where I am.
