What do your dreams mean to you? Are they everything to you? They should mean a whole lot and be very important to you to pursue. That is why they keep pulling at your mind and calling you to follow them. At this point, you might be wondering how to go about following your dreams so that you are successful. I have some simple thoughts that will help carry you very far in your journey to follow your dreams:

Following Your Dreams - Chinese Symbol

There’s no time like the present…

It’s never too late to follow your dreams. That means, no matter what your age or your situation, there is always a way to make it work if it means something to you! I know I have felt like it was too late to follow some of my dreams, even though I was only in my mid-twenties. It felt like I had wasted a good chunk of my life, not going after what I truly wanted. I had a lot of figuring life out to do. Sometimes we don’t figure out what our dreams are, or how important they are to us until some time has passed. That’s okay! Go after your dreams now. Life is still meant to be lived, no matter how much time has passed!

Go for it, you’re worth it!

I cannot stress this enough, you are worth going after your dreams. If it means something to you, then it is worth it. You may have a million other responsibilities in your life right now, but if you keep putting your own wellbeing off, you will begin to feel resentful or at the very least regretful. So make a plan that will work for you and your situation, and then use it to go after your dreams!

Passion and hard work will carry you very far!

Your sheer passion, coupled with a lot of hard work, will carry you very far in your journey to go after your dreams. One of the ways to keep your passion alive is to remember your why: why you started, why you need to keep going, why it will feel so good to achieve your dream! Keep that why fresh in your mind and don’t ever give up on something that is important to you. This time in your life will pass anyway, so you might as well be working towards something as significant as your own dreams!

Do what you can and always do your best.

Try not to focus on being perfect, or striving for things to be “just right” while you are chasing your dreams. It won’t be anywhere close to perfect. Some pieces might fall into place like they should, but others won’t. Do what you can with what you have, learn along the way, and always do your best. This philosophy will help you get further without too much frustration, or constantly feeling like you want to give up. We can’t do everything and be everything to everyone, not even for ourselves, but the one thing we can do is our best in each and every moment we’re given. That is what matters! Work hard and do your best, and your efforts will show.

Your dreams are important, no matter what!

No matter what anyone says to you, or what you say to yourself, your dreams are always important. Please don’t forget that! There will always be naysayers and negative nellies in your life, and there will always be someone trying to tear your dreams apart. Remind yourself daily of why you are doing this, so you don’t lose sight of your purpose.

I am a firm believer that we should all follow our dreams to the best of our abilities. That means going in with a realistic plan and goals, putting forth the hard work necessary to achieve your dreams, and not letting anything stand in your way. You can adjust things as needed so that you can take care of what needs to be taken care of in everyday life without giving up on your dreams. It may mean going at a slower pace this way, but that’s perfectly fine and you will get where you need to go if you keep putting one foot in front of the other!

I love this post. Dreams really are the center of our life. We have an eighteen year old daughter with big dreams. It’s going to be such a joy to watch her follow them as she grows up.

Dreams are what inspire us to try new things and take risks in life! It’s hard to focus on your own dreams once you have kids however, it can always be done!

I definitely strive to reach for some of my dreams. Occasionally, they have to be deferred because of my time of life. (Traveling the globe while raising kids isn’t going to happen for me.) But, looking at what can be done to move closer to those dreams (or new ones that can happen now) is something I am doing.

We all have our dreams. They change as we get older. Never let anyone challenge your dreams.

Right now my dream is to work on my blog. Small, measurable goals for me include making my food photography better and making sure that my writing is clean.

That is right. It is never too late to follow your dreams. Just keep pursuing. Faith can open doors. You never know where that faith will truly lead you if you hold on to it.

It’s always been hard for me to follow.my dreams. Instead I spent too much effort on doing what I thought others wanted. Recently I went for one of my dreams, even though others shared their criticism, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision.

Really like your distinction about following your dreams to the best of your ability. Which could be read as a caveat for not trying that hard but instead like this idea of setting expectations, making a realistic plan, and following through for success. Achieving goals is all about positivity and focus!

I wrote a similar post the other day about following your dreams. I agree. There is no time but the present to start on them. You have to if you want to be happy, otherwise you are just a shell of a person. I know situations make things much harder to follow dreams, but I think you just have to try, for yourself.
