As you get older, life seems to interfere with girlfriend time. Between Work, Marriage, Kids, and Life in general, it’s easy to let time slide by before you get together with your friends. I know this has happened with me, unfortunately! So, when I’m able to, I make sure I see my friends when we’re both available. So, when you’re ready, pack your bags and head to one or more of these great locations for your girl’s only weekend getaway:
Newport Rhode Island – First stop is to check in at your hotel! Marriott in Newport has recently been redesigned and has a beautiful view of the harbor. You can enjoy a full day with the amenities the Marriott has to offer between the spa, a pool, and a health center. Or just kick back in your room catching up and enjoying the view of the harbor. Newport Rhode Island has quite a few girl’s only weekend getaway things to do. There is the Cliff Walk is a 3 1/2 mile pathway that sports beautiful panoramic views of the ocean, bluffs and century old mansions. Enjoy a lunch, hor d’oeuvres or dinner on the water with Newport Dinner Cruises. The East Bay Bike Path is a safe path that allows cyclists to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells passing by marshes, coves and through State Parks.

Northern end of the Cliff Walk
Hamilton, Montana – This quaint town is a hidden gem in Montana. It’s slower paced and you can sit back, relax and when you go home to the rat race, you are well rested! The Daly Mansion is one of the must sees while here in Hamilton. In 25 years, the mansion was remodeled three times. It has a total of 50 rooms and is 24,000 sq ft. 25 of those rooms are bedrooms and 15 are bathrooms. It has seven fireplaces, five of which are designed with imported Italian marble. Not far from Hamilton, in Bitterroot Valley, is the peaceful Lake Como.
Surrounded by picturesque mountains, you can go hiking, swimming, and boating to name a few things. Bitterroot Rafting Adventures allows you to float down one of the many beautiful rivers in Montana. An ideal location to stay during your girl’s only weekend is Rye Creek Lodge. However, situated perfectly between four lakes, you do not have to travel far for rafting and hiking. They also offer horse back riding.
This one seems the perfect location for catching up and getting back to nature. But with Rye Creek Lodge, you have all the modern amenities needed to make your stay even more comfortable. One of the lodges offers a nice hot tub that you and your friends can kick back and enjoy the mountain ranges in the background.
Napa Valley, California – Hello Wine Country! Napa Valley is the most well-known location on this list. But, umm. It’s Wine…. I had to add it for my own sanity and for yours! If you and your girls love wine, this is the place to be. There is a day trip Wine Train tour that I am determined to do one day. Even if I need to drag my friends kicking and screaming. (I won’t have to though, I promise!) The train will take you to locations for wine tours such as The Castle Wine Tour, Raymond Winery Tour, Grgich Hills Winery Tour, and Ambassador Winery Tour.
Napa Valley also offers Hot Air Balloon Rides that will take you soaring above the land, seeing the wonders below and having a peaceful serenity sweep over you. And of course, we cannot forget the shopping experience. There are many venues of shopping in Napa Valley, and one that I found that stood out was The Napa Valley Store. This store has inventory provided by local Artisans and let me tell you. Looking at their online store? I may not wait to visit to shop there! I love visiting stores that provide items made by locals. It’s like keeping a piece of that area’s history with you. They offer anything from Gourmet Essentials to Apparel to Home Decor.
For the place to rest your head at night? The Napa River Inn is gorgeous! It only has 66 rooms and that is spread out amongst three buildings along the river front and easy access to downtown. They start your day off with breakfast in bed. What woman doesn’t dream of that? A driver is also provided to take you to downtown locations!
Eureka Springs, Arkansas – This beautiful little town set in the Ozarks was known for their springs and their healing powers. Unfortunately, those springs have mostly dried up, but Eureka Springs is now known for their spa treatments and local artisan galleries. These are great activities for your girl’s only weekend! After researching locations for this list, the images for the town of Eureka Springs drew me in!
I know my current plans of living in an RV and traveling the country are still in place, but I have to say this location? May change my mind and have me settling down in one spot. This is an absolutely beautiful town! Things to do in Eureka Springs widely vary! There are Motorcycle tours, walking through Cosmic Cavern, a beautiful cave with two underground lakes. I walked through a Cavern on vacation with family before and it is a wonderful experience! If you are an adventurous group, Ziplining is a great way to get the blood pumping! This was another thing I did on a vacation in Haiti. It is a must have experience! There are many types of venues to check in at for a few nights stay. They have Inns, Hotels, Camping and Lodge Cabins. So, no matter what you and your group enjoy, they have it!
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin – I’m an East Coast Gal, but I have thoroughly enjoyed researching this post and seeing the different locations. I need to travel more and these girl’s only weekend locations are all on my list! Lake Geneva, WI is another location that has it all for the varied interests of your group. You can enjoy time on the water, go out and enjoy the nightlife and also tour the local area and their locations that include wineries and Museums and even a cruise on Lake Geneva. Streets of Lake Geneva is the heartbeat of downtown Lake Geneva. There are many things here that you will enjoy. Shopping, Dining, Entertainment and Outdoor Entertainment. I also love they have a beach area right there in downtown!
These are just five great locations for your Girl’s Only Weekend getaways. Have you done a getaway with your friends at any of these locations? What are your thoughts? What locations would you add to this list?

Love this! I highly recommend Eurkeka Springs, Arkansas! My family and I went there last year ~ it is completely enchanting!
My sister and I take a girls weekend every year, and I love these ideas! Thank you!
I love that these are some places not commonly on the list!
My daughter and I went to Newport, Rhode Island this past summer! It and, we stayed at the Marriott! Beautiful views, close enough to walk almost everywhere! We also took a scenic tour of all the beautiful mansions they have and visited a lighthouse on a nearby island. I could have stayed for weeks! It was scenic, beautiful and also a very pedestrian friendly town!
Girls getaways are always a good idea. I haven’t gotten to the stage of motherhood and marriage just yet, but I’m a college student and that’s time consuming enough. I usually travel with my cousin each year so these suggestions will definitely be considered for our summer 2018 trip!
Really liked this post, looks like you had a great time away!! Girls getaways are the best
I was just talking to my best girlfriend about trying to get away for a girls only weekend. Right on time!

My girlfriends and I are looking for a place to go for our annual slumber party. We’ve been doing this since high school. I see a couple of places on your list that might be great for us. Thank you, Brenda
