I live on the East Coast.  When you hear Road Trip! Usually that takes you through a couple of states.  A few years ago, I was lucky enough to mark an item off my bucket list and take a road trip down the West Coast in CA.  I started in San Jose, CA and ended in Los Angeles, CA. It took approximately 7 hours.

On my way to Los Angeles!

Of course, I had to stop several places along the way.  However, with that said, I never knew that CA has SO MUCH FREE LAND! It was beautiful!

Along the way, I had seen amusing signs. My favorite was that the highway was patrolled by helicopter.  I saw exits off of the highway, but, I couldn’t see hide nor hare of the town it was exiting to. I had been dying to try an In & Out Burger, but,  couldn’t find one off of the exit ramps. So, I stopped at a McDonald’s when I got too hungry.  Guess what?  You got it. There was a sign for In & Out two exits later.  REALLY????  That’s okay. I made my friend and her husband take me to one by them :P.

One of the things I saw on my way to SoCal, was:

A phone booth at a rest area

Ummmm, those are still around???  I felt like I went back in time to a more simpler time and people couldn’t be reached while driving. Ahhh, the memories!

They also have pullouts when the ocean came into view.  I got this lovely shot:

I also stopped in at Santa Barbara. Visited a few shops, walked on the beach and just enjoyed the day, because I could. California is a stunning state. I was only on the one highway, but, it gave me glimpse of what I was missing.  There’s a saying, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” The vastness of our world is huge. It’s meant to be explored. What’s the other saying, “I wasn’t born to pay bills and die.”

I encourage everyone, do what you can to travel. Get out there and see our world. Spend your money on experiences, not stuff.

Where have you traveled?  Where would you like to travel? What ways are you saving for your next adventure?

I have driven some of the highway and yes there are tons of pull outs along the way to view the ocean. There is so much to see on both sides of the road you can get a sore neck trying to take it all in.

It’s always fun to go on a road trip. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen one of those phone booths around.
