As you all know, I was laid off from my job back in March. Well, last October or November, I reserved a hotel room in Tennessee. My son and I are going down for the Solar Eclipse event on August 21st. I thought I had booked the hotel to where I could cancel, but regretfully I actually selected the option that I couldn’t cancel and I paid less for that. So I am now planning a road trip vacation on a budget.
You’ve all heard about that little teeny weeny website and app called Groupon? Come on now. I know you’ve had to have heard of them! They offer over 70,000 deals with about 9,000 merchants. There’s that light bulb! You have heard of them!
My plan with this road trip to Tennessee is to be very frugal. Bringing food for the car ride instead of hitting up rest stops. Bringing water and other beverages as well. With Groupon, you can also change your location to get deals in the city you are going to. One of the ways I was being frugal even while I was working, was to select a plan that cost me less. Groupon has many deals that they offer for lodging and one of them is through hotels.com. Currently, there are fifty-one deals through Groupon for them! That’s a lot of deals, so I’m sure you will be able to find one that is beneficial for your travel plans!
If you are choosing to fly instead of taking a road trip vacation, Zipcar is available in most cities. You can sign up with them as a monthly member for $7 per month or a once in an awhile member with no monthly membership. Groupon has fifteen deals going on with Zipcar right now. So there should be something you can use!
Using Groupon for my planning is certainly conducive for my road trip vacation next month and what’s great is there is a huge variety of merchants for anything you are planning. They even have coupons for Amazon which I actually didn’t even know! If you have a student going off to college? Amazon is the perfect one stop shop for those who don’t want to hit the stores!
