I have to admit something to you all. I am TOTALLY jealous of the Millennial generation. Not only because I’d love to relive my youth… (Oh come on, you all know you want to relive your youth. You can’t lie to me! :)) And certainly not because when they do stupid things, it’s all online forever. I am extremely glad that the stupid things I did will never see the light of day again.

I was recently speaking with a friend of mine who has health issues for certain reasons. One of them being her job. And it made me realize, this is a common thing anymore. Women are so stressed at work for either trying to keep up with home, kids and work. We try to prove we can do the job just as well as a man. Or, we are trying to make up for the fact that we are women.
It has finally hit me. My daughter is going into her sophomore year of high school. I’m thinking ahead and quite a few things hit me!
- She will have her license this time next year
- We will be doing college tours in two years
- She will graduate in less than three years.
- She will be old enough to vote in the next election in four years
Once I let all that sink it, I realized one thing. I’m getting old! Nah… I mean I am, but, I don’t feel it. I sure as heck don’t act it! So, it got me thinking. Once she’s done college in seven years. What the heck am I going to do with my life? I mean, the last eleven years since my divorce, I haven’t really give much thought to my empty nest years.
Inc.com put out an exercise for us to try and find our life purpose. I accept that challenge. I am copying and pasting their article to answer the questions:
1. Write down all the the things you absolutely love to do in life. Be outrageous, open-minded, honest, and creative. Label it your “My Love List.” It may make more sense later, the point is to get inspired and let your imagination run free.
Last year I got to thinking. I know, I know! Dangerous territory! But, I let it get the best of me and started to think. I asked myself, “Self… If I could do one thing over in my life, what would it be?”
Everyone has a list of things they want to do. From the most basic to the most impossible. As you know from reading previous posts, one of my biggest desires is to travel.
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.
Hello! Just an update from my original Blog Post. I am no longer in the job that I hated! I’m off the phones and am currently training as a Instructional Developer, (Tech Writer). I love writing and research, so, this job is ideal! It’s not working from home, but, I have the option later to work from home when needed. This was an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful that my new manager took a chance and hired someone who had no training in this type of job.
Have you ever wondered, where would I be if I followed that path instead of this path? What would I be doing if I didn’t start “that” when I was younger? Would I be the same person I am now?
