Ok. Here’s the deal. I call myself an introverted extrovert. When you get to know me?  You CANNOT shut me up. When I don’t know you? You’ll be lucky to actually hear me speak. I absolutely hate this lol. This is the year I am hoping to step out of my comfort zone.

Step out of my comfort zone

So, I am making 2017 the year I step out of my comfort zone.  I will do anything from striking up a conversation with someone I don’t know, to going to a local event in my “new” hometown by myself. Quotes around new because I’ve been here since March and rarely leave my apartment.  I need to change this. My friends and family are only one state away, but, as I drive almost an hour each way to work, I don’t want to come back down to see them on the weekends!  So, yes, I need to start finding things to do up here in my small town at least once or twice a month.

So, with that said, I’ll be posting at the end of each month what I did that month to step out of my comfort zone. And if for some reason I did nothing? I’ll be honest and tell you that too :).

I’d love some suggestions, though!  What would your suggestions be to step out of my comfort zone?

I use to be the someway and hated going to parties or anytime of gathering where there would be people I didn’t know. Finally stepped out of my comfort zone.

I love this goal! I am also an introvert-extrovert so I can totally relate?

Stepping out of your comfort zone is easy. Just do things you don’t normally do, even though you know you should. That’s been my strategy!

Good luck! I’m kind of the same way and just have to completely throw myself into it! It’s always awkward the first few go rounds, but gets easier as you go!

This is a great idea, I can’t wait to read about your experiences. This year I’m also pushing myself outside of my comfort zone.

I guess it’s the only way we grow as people. We have to step out of our comfort zones and communicate with others. Good luck with your resolution!

I’m the same way, an introverted extrovert! I want to join a community running club this year – socialize AND have a reason to exercise more! I dare you to try it. 😉

Amanda! I can’t resist a dare, but I can’t run to save my life! LOL. I did join a local meetup group and they do hiking and other events. I’ll join in with them!

You sound like me. I am a nervous nelly about interacting but once I decide to open my mouth, the Life Of The Party comes out. I kinda psych myself up…I don’t know if that will help you, but take a deep breath and then just dive in.

I love that Eleanor Roosevelt quote! It is important to step outside of your comfort zone, that is where growth happens!!

Try a new cuisine. If you haven’t tried, for example, Thai food, or Vietnamese food, or Ethiopian food, track down a restaurant (or food truck) and give it a go!

Good luck! The older I get the more I hate stepping out of my comfort zone. I’d rather die than go to a party and talk to strangers. It’s just too much stress.

LOL. That’s actually a great idea. Don’t think. Just dive in. Otherwise you get too psyched up and chicken out.
